Workshop on Basketry Making Organised by North East Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Government of Indiain collaboration with Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Guwahati, Assam

The two day long workshop on Basketry Making for the Divyangjan (Person with Disabilities) started on 1st of December, 2022 with the Registration of the Trainees by Ms. Gayatri Borah, Asst. Secy. of Prerona Pratibandhi NGO. The program was hosted by Mrs. Jyotsna Sonowal, Founder and Principal of the Prerona Pratibandhi NGO. Thereafter Felicitation of the Chief Guest Mr. Morgan Meston, General Manager, District Industries and Commerce Center, Dibrugarh. The Lighting of Lamp by Chief Guest was performed immediately after the felicitation. The Chief Guest gave a short speech highlighting the facilities under Govt. schemes by DICC. Saraswati Vandana was sung by Smt. Parinita Sharma, Cultural Secy. NGO made the atmosphere vibrant for the trainees as well as for the others present on the occasion.
Among the three experts who are engaged to provide the training two of them are also Persons with Disabilities. The experts are namely: 1. Mr. Beni Madhab Borah, (PwD) 2. Mr. Jadav Dehingia, (PwD) and 3. Mr. Dhiren Dutta.
Later the Vote of Thanks was given by Mr. Biru Kr. Singh, President of the NGO to NEZCC, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, to the Hon’ble Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Ghy., Govt. of Assam, to Mr. Morgan Meston, Chief Guest of the Inaugural program, to the experts and to all the trainee along with their escorts. The first day Training underwent thereafter with full enthusiasm and zeal shown by the trainees as well as by the experts.
The second Day of the Workshop started with the training. The training program went on till 1:30pm. There after Lunch was provided to all. The closing ceremony started at 2:00pm with the President of the NGO presiding the meeting. The chief guest of the meeting was Mr. Ajit Borah, Advocate. And the guest were Mr. Dudu Dutta, District Social Welfare officer (Dibrugarh), Mr. Arun Jain, owner Silklaya, Dr. P. N. Sonowal, Dr. Lekhon Dutta, Mrs. Chetana Dutta (writer), President of Borbaruah Panchayat, President of Borbaruah Rastriya Swayam Sewak Sangh. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries gave speech highlight the need of such workshop and the role played by Divyangjan for the development of society. Thereafter the experts were felicitated by the NGO. Certificates were distributed to all the trainees. The Chorus was sung by Staffs of Prerona Children Home, which was followed by a solo song, sung by Smt. Parinita Sharma. The next program was vote of thanks by Smt. Jyotsna Sonowal. The program ended with the national anthem.
